To our O’Bryant Track and Field Family

An important message…..

From: Mr. MacLeod
It is with a very heavy heart, that I must inform you that Kearns Louis-Jean, O’Bryant Class of 2009, passed away today from injuries he received in a car accident. I am sorry that this is being communicated via e-mail. If it had not been a Friday afternoon, I would have spoken, in person, tomorrow with each of you who knew Kearns. I reached several of you on the phone, but did not want others to learn of it on the news.
At the O’Bryant, Kearns was a student-athlete playing football and running track. He attended Boston University and Xavier University of Louisiana. After graduating from the O’Bryant, he regularly returned to visit, attend sporting events, and even was at graduation last June. He aspired to return to the O’Bryant on a more permanent basis as a physics teacher, something I discussed with him just a few months ago.
To those of us who remember Kearns, please know that I share your sorrow and will keep you and his family in my thoughts and prayers. It is never easy to lose a young person – particularly one with such a bright future ahead of him or her. Sadly, this is something that we at the O’Bryant (and others in the BPS) have experienced far too many times.
To those of you who did not know Kearns, I ask that you also keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.
To all members of the O’Bryant community, please look at every one of our students as precious and treat every minute you spend with them as significant. Positive relationships matter to our students. You are inspiring the next generation of doctors, engineers, scientists, business people, leaders, and, yes, teachers.
