The O’Bryant had a very exciting STEM Week. On Tuesday, October 22nd we hosted a Dedication Ceremony for the new computer science lab. Thanks to a generous donation from the GE Foundation the computer lab received 42 new desktop computers and 1 laptop. The lab even received a fresh coat of paint by volunteers from the GE Foundation. The Dedication Ceremony was attended by the Superintendent, Dr. Brenda Cassellius, David Barash, Executive Director of the GE Foundation, teachers, students, parents and many other members of the O’Bryant and BPS community.
On Thursday, October 24th students in the Biomedical Pathway attended a presentation by MIT Professor and researcher, Dr. Robert Langer. Dr. Langer has been called the Edison of medicine and is one of 12 Institute Professors at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT); being an Institute Professor is the highest honor that can be awarded to a faculty member. Dr. Langer’s presentation was followed by a STEM Career Panel with 8 professionals who work at Biogen, MIT, Novartis, Intellia Therapeutics and Capital W.
